"I will write to the company Fermentis asking them to market more of their yeasts to UK homebrewers but only if 10 other UK brewers and at least 1 homebrew shop owner in the UK will join me by approving the letter and co-signing it."

Most UK home brewers are familiar with using dried yeasts, but are disappointed by the lack of available choice today.
There are in fact many dried yeast available to professional brewers, however, they are only sold in large pack sizes, eg. 500g packs.
This size is far too much for home brewers who brew on a smaller scale. Home brew shops typically sell dried yeast in sachets of around 11g.
There are two popular products S04 (Safale) and Saflager both produced by a company called Fermentis (sometime labelled as DCL Yeast).
Fermentis have a wide range of other craft brewing yeast. Many UK home brewers would like to use these yeasts, but they are not available in a suitable size.
The UKHOMEBREW pledge is a means of encouraging Fermentis to consider marketing more of their yeasts to the UK home brew market by selling (or allowing an intemediary company to sell) their yeast in smaller pack sizes.
This pledge was posted to the UK-HOMEBREW mailing list - www.smartgroups.com/groups/uk-homebrew/ - which has around 500 subscribers, also to the rec.crafts.brewing Usenet group.
You can post your comments on the pledge website, or email me privately with any queries.

Also, if you are placing an order with a UK Homebrew shop in the next month, will you please ask them to sign the Pledge ? It's vital to have a voice from these homebrew retailers... because they'll be the ones that sell the yeast we want.
Many thanks.
Darren
Hop & Grape now have Fermentis US-56 in small sachets and will soon be having T-58.
